Leave Alicante through the villages into the hinterland and visit a little village called Novelda, famous for its well known Santuary and also because there is one of the most promising winery yards of the Alicante region. Its constant search for the quality in its wines has been rewarded several times by the numerous prizes received from prestigious organizations related to the wine’s world, abroad and in Spain. A presentation will be given before starting a guided visit to show you the wine elaboration process: place of reception of the grape, Control laboratory, deposits area, barrels of wine… and so on.You will taste two different kind of wine and also have some finger food to accompany the wine. Before leaving the winery you will have the option of buying a bottle of the nice wine you have tasted.

Now is time to visit the impressive St Magdalena Sanctuary. This religious building was built as part of a project undertaken by Novelda-based engineer, José Sala Sala, who imbued his project with the Catalan Modernist style (GAUDÍ). Work began in 1918 and was carried out in three phases, finally coming to an end in 1946.Next to the Santuary, there is a nice castle called “De la Mola”. A fortress of Islamic origin, it was built in the late 12th century. It has a polygonal floor shape with eight square cubes overhanging. Today only for remain, two of which are covered up. They feature a square tower inside which today is missing its top, made from adobe on a masonry base.A panoramic of the main squares and avenues of Alicante city will be done before returning to the ship.
